have you been turned down because you don't fit the fitness instructor image?

I have long pondered why "fitness instructors" seemed to have been
stamped out with the same cookie cutter, and they have seemed so
inappropriate to everyone except people like themselves. (Yeah, I
know that's a biased statement, but you know: people who are young
or bouncy or atheletic or good looking or a combination.)

Then I heard from my sister that a friend from our home town had
spent many months and dollars getting "certified" as a fitness
instructor and when it came to the final test they DENIED her because
she "didn't fit the image of a fitness instructor". What BS! And I
am not surprised.

So I finally got around to making a Google Search on "have you been
turned down because you don't fit the fitness instructor image?" :
